The Lanoka Harbor Volunteer Fire Company #1 was established in 1940. We are currently located at the intersection of Route 9 & Warren Ave. in Lanoka Harbor. The fire company is an all-volunteer organization and receive no payment for services rendered to the residents of the Township of Lacey. Even though the department is funded by the Township of Lacey, we rely heavily on donations from the residents. The department also has a banquet hall that it rents out for a minimal fee. At this time, L.H.F.D. has approximately 45 members on the rolls, all of which are active. We are always accepting application from individuals, male or female, that wish to possibly join our department.
The response area of L.H.F.D. is from the Berkley Twp. border, south to Nautilus Blvd (north side). Our southern boundary from Nautilus Blvd. is almost a straight line to the rear of the Mill Pond Elem. School on Western Blvd. Just because those are our boundaries, it doesn’t mean that we can’t leave them. You might see us responding south of Nautilus Blvd into Forked River to provide “mutual aid” to the Forked River Fire Dept., Sta. 60 or north of the Cedar Creek to assist Bayville Fire Dept., Sta. 17. L.H.F.D. we will go to any area that requests our assistance!
Currently, the L.H.F.D. is dispatched by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Dept., Communications Dept. The O.C.S.D. handles all of our requests for additional departments whether it be another fire department, Ocean County Fire Marshall’s Office, Medevac helicopters or any of the utility companies. In other words, the O.C.S.D. is our life line when we are operating on a scene. Even though we are dispatched by the county, we still work closely with the Lacey Twp. Police Dept.
The Lanoka Harbor Fire Department is also home to the Lacey Twp. Underwater Rescue & Recovery Team. The L.T.U.R.R. team is its own, separate organization. Although the team is partly made up of firefighter’s & housed at the L.H.F.D., we are not the same organization. L.H.F.D does however provide assistance to the team.
The Lanoka Harbor Fire Dept. currently has a Fire Prevention program for all ages. Annually, we go to various pre-schools and elementary schools to talk to the children about fire safety and prevention. Also, in October, we hold an “open house” at our building for families to come and collect literature on fire safety and prevention! At the “open house”, we allow the families to come and operate fire hoses, participate in extinguishing controlled fires with fire extinguishers and participate in the “Fire Safety House”. This is a night to be enjoyed for the entire family, and on top of it all, it’s all free!!!!
If you wish to join our fire company, just simply stop by the house any Monday or Thursday between 6:30pm and 8:30pm or contact us at any time. If you would like a tour of our station, please give us a call (609-693-4998) and leave us a message, we will get back to you as soon as possible, and we can schedule your tour!

As many of you know, the Lanoka Harbor Fire Co. is a Volunteer organization. This means we do not bill for services and rely on a Township budget and donations from our residents. The year 2020 has been extremely tough on all of us, including those that we protect. We have had to cancel many of our fund drives. Some of these directly help us in offsetting costs, some of these we receive money from but also help you and your loved ones get a nice night out for some fun.
We are forever grateful for all the selfless donations you all have provided over the years. We once again ask for your help in keeping this great organization the greatest it can be. Keeping it well trained. Keeping it providing the top level of service you all deserve.
If you would like to donate please do so via paypal to Lhfd1940@gmail.com
All of us here at the "Fighting 61st" appreciate all of you, and look forward to providing the highest level of service to the residents of Lacey Twp.
